Information:
The Steller's Sea Cow was a large herbivrous marine mamal that was
hunted to extinction. It is related to the Dugong and the Manatee.
This particular piece was found by Siberian Yupik Eskimo Alaska Natives
living on St. Lawrence Island and has a nice patina with lots of crevices and
cells.
The Ebony is from Gabon Africa and provides a nice contrast to the Fossil Steller's Sea Cow Bone. |
